Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 September 2026 · Applies to the Radio Sur Sangam website, iOS app, and Android app
This is one shared policy for the Radio Sur Sangam website and both the iOS and Android apps — they run the
same code and handle your information the same way. The one difference is website analytics and
advertising measurement, described below, which apply to the website only and not to the apps.
Who we are
Radio Sur Sangam is a 24×7 Internet radio station built exclusively for non-professional
singers — never professionals or playback singers. It streams the same India-anchored schedule to listeners
everywhere in the world, matched to their own local clock. This policy covers the
radiosursangam.in website and the Radio Sur Sangam mobile apps published on the
Apple App Store and Google Play.
What we collect — and what we don't
The apps are built to need as little of your personal information as possible. There's no account or login.
Here's exactly what's involved:
Stays on your device only — never sent to us:
- Your favourite songs, alarm/reminder settings, and stream preference — stored locally on your phone.
- Your device's own timezone — used to show the right local time and match you to the correct radio
schedule. We don't use location services or IP-based location lookup for this.
Talking to Sangini (our AI voice assistant):
- If you use the microphone to talk to Sangini, your speech is converted to text using your phone's own
built-in speech recognition (Apple's or Google's, depending on your device) — we don't receive audio
recordings of your voice.
- The resulting text of your question is sent to our server, which uses a third-party AI service
(Anthropic) to generate Sangini's reply. That reply is read aloud using your phone's built-in
text-to-speech.
- We don't store a transcript of these conversations tied to your identity.
If you enter a singing contest (Navras Ratan / Navras Darbar):
- The app opens our contest entry page in your browser. If you submit an entry, we collect your
name, city/country, WhatsApp number, an optional email address, your song
choices, and either an uploaded audio recording or a link to your Starmaker/Smule performance.
- This is used only to run the contest — judging entries, contacting winners, and delivering
certificates. We don't sell or share this with third parties.
Standard technical data:
- When you stream the live radio or on-demand songs, our streaming server sees the same basic technical
information any web request includes (like your IP address) — this is standard server behaviour, not
something we actively collect or analyse per listener.
- Since 5 September 2026 we keep a security log for two administrative addresses only —
the contest media file and the admin panel. It records the time, IP address, which address was
requested, whether the requester was signed in, and the browser name. It does not record page views on
the ordinary site, radio listening, form contents, passwords or anything you type. We added it after a
review found that we could not tell who had accessed an administrative address, which is information we
need in order to protect contest data properly. The log is capped in size and overwrites itself.
- Video content in the Showcase section is played via YouTube's own player, which is governed by
Google's Privacy Policy.
On the website only — analytics and advertising measurement:
- The website uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages
they read, and broadly where they come from — so we can tell which broadcasts and which singers are
actually reaching listeners.
- The website also uses the Meta Pixel. When we advertise a broadcast or a contest on
Facebook or Instagram, this tells us whether people who saw the advertisement went on to visit the
site, and it allows Meta to show our advertisements to people with similar interests.
- Both place cookies in your browser and share your IP address and your activity on this site with
Google and Meta, who may also use that information for their own advertising purposes. Their handling
is governed by
Google's Privacy Policy
and
Meta's Privacy Policy.
- Neither is present in the iOS or Android apps.
The iOS and Android apps contain no advertising SDKs and no analytics or tracking
SDKs. There are no advertisements inside the apps. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not
share contest entries with advertisers.
App permissions
- Microphone / Speech Recognition — only used when you actively tap to talk to Sangini.
- Notifications — only used for the wake-up reminder you set yourself; it's a local
on-device alarm, not a push notification from our servers.
The apps don't request access to your contacts, photos, camera, or precise location.
Children's privacy
Radio Sur Sangam is a general-audience music app and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly
collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Favourites, alarms, and preferences can be cleared any time from within the app, or by uninstalling it.
- To ask what contest-entry information we hold about you, or to request it be deleted, just email us —
see below.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings, which stops Google Analytics and the Meta
Pixel from recognising you on this site. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with
Google's browser add-on,
and adjust how Meta uses your activity for advertising in your
Meta ad preferences.
Changes to this policy
